We love music, many types of music. There’s just something about music. It’s a powerful art form that can alter mood, drive emotion, inspire, tear down and build up. Music can be the motivation behind many things. Music is interwoven into our everyday lives and arguably it would be hard to live without.
We enjoy sweets and junk food. Cinnamon buns, Oreo cookies, doughnuts, German Chocolate cake, Devil’s Food cake. It doesn’t stop there, Doritos, Milk Duds, Twizzlers, Barbecue potato chips and pretzels and that’s not even a full list!
We also appreciate having an occasional cigar and drinks from time to time. During this Covid era, we realized that we’ve become more knowledgeable about the history and science behind cigars, wine, bourbon and tequila. Go figure!
All these things have something in common – too much of them can be a bad thing.
Depending on the type of preferred music chances are nowadays the song is laced with profanity, sexually charged lyrics, suggestive drug use or a promotion of a single “I don’t need anyone else” lifestyle.
Eating too many sweets and junk food while satisfying a craving, can cause feelings of sluggishness along with a host of potential health issues and lead to obesity.
There are no secrets about the host of issues that can be brought on by excessive tobacco and alcohol use.
While it’s okay to indulge in certain things, we encourage you to do so in moderation. We must be vigilant about what we listen to, watch, eat and drink because after all, we are feeding our spirits.
The Bible reminds us in 1 Corinthians 6:19 (NLT) “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself.” The Bible warns us in, 1 Peter 5:8 (NLT)“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” The Bible urges us in, James 4:8 (NLT) “Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.”
