Make It Work
2 Cor. 9-10 [NLT] For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.
“Take what you are working with and make it work.” – Vincent & Monica Alexander
In December, 2018 we were in Day 2 of a several day tour of Egypt. We could not help but notice how locals took the resources and things available around them to make something or fix something. It was almost as if they combined things that would otherwise be overlooked by others and transformed them into something of use and value.
For example, as we were returning to our bus after lunch, we noticed a small area off to the left of the restaurant. It looked like the doorway to someone’s residence. Curiosity took over and we walked over to the doorway to take a closer look.
Not only was it someone’s residence, the woman (whom we assumed lived there) was using the brick oven on the porch to bake the bread to supply to the restaurant where we had just eaten!
Our takeaway from that experience was:
“Sometimes you have to take whatever you are working with and make it work”
If it’s a job that you hate….MAKE IT WORK.
A broken relationship….MAKE IT WORK.
Disappointment in areas of your life…MAKE IT WORK.
A broken heart….MAKE IT WORK.
Whatever MAKE IT WORK means to you, it will require your action, a little bit of faith, perseverance and the willingness to want more for yourself. A MAKE IT WORK attitude will cause you to challenge yourself to show up differently, do things differently and perhaps walk a path less travelled or not travelled at all.
Whatever the case, sometimes life pushes you to the point where you have to be open minded in dealing with what’s around you and affect change.
