Monica and I share slight differences in how we regard vehicles. I appreciate just about all types of vehicles. SUV’s, pick up trucks, sedans, sports cars (especially the exotic ones). Monica also appreciates them but her focus is how she can get from point A to point B in relative speed and comfort. Monica would appreciate vehicles even more if she could be driven in them as opposed to driving herself.
But the one thing we can agree upon is that vehicles were created to take us places and in so doing, we are able to see different things and travel farther distances in a fraction of time.
Just as God is responsible for creating the inventors who built the first vehicle, He is also responsible for creating and building the institution of marriage. Marriage itself can be regarded as a vehicle which Merriam-Webster dictionary defines as “a means of carrying or transporting something. Vehicle is also defined as “a medium through which something is expressed, achieved or displayed.”
Through the marriage relationship, life’s journey seems to become more fulfilling. Marriage tends to open up doors of opportunity to establish a family; identify and execute your shared vision and; to mirror God’s image and fulfill His purpose. Marriage is the vehicle that provides couples an opportunity to evolve in love but also develop virtues of patience, faith, understanding, caring, empathy and support. Marriage is where you hone the skills of listening, communication, selflessness and compromise.
Marriage is that vehicle whereby couples can take on life’s challenges as they journey along the road of setbacks and successes. Genesis 2:18 says, “It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a suitable helper for him.”(NIV) Ecclesiastes 4:9 says, “Two are better than one because they have good reward for their toil.” (NIV)
According to the Word, it can be argued that a strong Godly marriage is that one vehicle that takes couples to new heights both in the spiritual and natural. Marriage can enable couples to experience all that life has to offer and accomplish more together than they could have ever imagined as individuals.
